Why Does The Post Office's Website Suck?

Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click and Hope it Ships

Click-N-Ship... I've been using this USPS feature for years and I've watch it get worse and worse as they make it better.

Navigating the USPS Website was never easy or fun. However, Click-N-Ship was once a fast way to get business letters out and delivered typically in two business days on the East Coast for about $9.00 which was totally worth the cost and effort. Now it's $11.12 and takes 3-4 days which by the way is what First Class mail delivery times used to be but haven't been for years.

Yesterday was something all together new. I navigated the Click-N-Ship maze and then pressed "Print" only to have my screen flash and close. Seriously, it just flashed something and closed before I could figure out what was going on or if my order was completed.

When I logged back in my shopping cart was empty. I checked my history and only got this:

No matter what I did I couldn't see my recent activity. I created a new label and it worked just fine... Still too many clicks but I'm used to that. I then checked my email and of course I had two charges.

On a whim I read the red wording shown above and tried the "Shipping History" hyperlink and got this:

The initial shipping history didn't show your recent history or let you scroll down. This begs the question who in the hell is responsible for testing the USPS website? I'm guessing maybe the same folks who created the Affordable Health Care website. How little effort is being spent just seeing if the USPS website works. I'm convinced they make changes and then let the unsuspecting public test the site. Click-N-Ship was pretty darn good but now it's just sucks. How does a website become worse over time when most things become better?

I clicked the view order in the actual history and requesting a refund which was crazy easy... Too easy. I bet I will never see a refund?

For most of us life is not about the big things that break you. It's typically about the little things that keep adding up to a point that you just snap. Some people start drinking. Some people curl up and basically hide from the world. I think this modern day crap reduces our bodies immune system resulting in illness and early death.

So many things have gotten better over time and yet in general life somehow hasn't gotten easier...

WHY DOES GOVERNMENT SEEMINGLY BECOME LESS EFFICIENT OVER TIME?

Young people and the old drug using hippies that support Socialism need to visit the DMV in a big city, file a complicated tax return or use Click-N-Ship to discover the truth. Government is not efficient. Government is not the answer. Of course government is able to do some things better than the private sector but Click-N- Ship is not one of them.

Doubt me?

Well ponder this ticking time bomb:  $39,429,000,000,000
